ID Music 20220701: Impure Flow
North America's Gnarliest Mix of Metal, Drone, Jazz and Industrial-Sludge-Dub for Armagideon Times
The Void Contemplation Tactics staff is traveling away from the built-up areas of the Rust Belt, toward the Laurentian Great Lakes Region, and eventually away from the mainland entirely for our annual DIY Summer Couple Retreat. In addition to the most recent Inter-Dimensional Music session described here, we leave you with over 200 hours of our program in the Mixcloud archive. You’ll also find scores of 2021 and 2022 sessions available to stream or download for offline engagement in the exclusive newsletter subscriber archive.
Each episode of ID Music first emerges every week on WQRT Indianapolis, Marfa Public Radio in Far West Texas, and LOOKOUT FM across Los Angeles. Those versions are limited to an hour, but we’ve started letting the actual live sessions here in the Muncie studio run on a bit longer. So for this edition of Impure Flow you’ll hear extra introductory and exit ambience from the extraordinary Avon Attorlaðe compilation from Avon Terror Corps.
As the folks at ATC’s Bristol HQ write:
All people on this comp have a connection with plants and mushrooms that runs deeper than we could fit on this 2hr 50 minutes of herbal dreamscapes and poisoned lucid haze. This female and non-binary line-up acts as an adaptogen to the patriarchal imbalances that poison like venom and can result in pointless wars and destruction. And so we remedy with an Attorlaðe, “poison-hater”. A herbal spell that purifies and lets feminine and non-binary voices be heard.
100% of profits for this compilation go to Solidarity Apothecary for their work on the borders of Ukraine.
Much more to come upon our return to the low-rolling plains of East Central Indiana, including a fresh Void Contemplation Tactics video featuring Zen Master Dōgen. If things go according to plan, we’ll also finally take a dip into Adyashanti’s delicately titled yet surprisingly brutal Falling into Grace.
“Everybody’s going around pretending like they really know things, pretending like they know what’s real and what’s not, pretending they know what’s right, pretending they know who’s wrong, but actually nobody really knows,” he writes. “But this is something we’re afraid of. We don’t really want to admit that nobody really knows.”
Here’s to those of us who go around knowing that we don’t know. I don’t know much, but I know I love you.
Thank you, as always, for being here.

If you know anyone who might find this Void Contemplation Tactics newsletter useful or perhaps even entertaining, please pass it along. I’m stoked to meet your friends, and it’s incredibly validating whenever anyone decides to spread the word.
INTER-DIMENSIONAL MUSIC 20220701
An impure flow of metal, drone, jazz, and industrial-sludge-dub for Armagideon Times
Notta lotta metal on the ID Music airwaves the last couple weeks but we'll make it up to you and/or take our revenge depending on your feelings re: metal with this week's counterpose practice. Impure Flow is yet another opportunity to confront this harsh '20s reality with eyes open, and to be present for life as it is so that we might continue cutting through the endless delusions.
