Inter-Dimensional Music 20210924
North America's Gnarliest Mix of special practices that can't help you if you're attached to your thinking

Inter-Dimensional Music is heard weekly on the airwaves of Marfa Public Radio, LOOKOUT FM Los Angeles, and WQRT Indianapolis.
For this week's practice we continue with our very casual survey of amorphously devotional music and the sounds of psychedelic rituals. This series is loosely based on "Ritual de lo Habitual," an essay for Aquarium Drunkard about not worrying too much about figuring out all the words to the song, and just vibing instead.
No previous experience required, but you can find the first installment in our series here:
Our session kicks off with an invocation excerpted from Isaiah Collier & The Chosen Few's Cosmic Transitions, a transmission of spiritual jazz "crafted with the full intention to awaken those who hear it." Dr. John follows with an anthem for the incarcerated, directed specifically at chanting down the Babylon Shitstem abomination known as Angola. Live Nyabinghi rhythms ease us into powerful Black devotional sounds from Alice Coltrane and Don Cherry.
In the second half, countrified drone-folk, an ambient edit of a long-form doom metal masterwork, and we'll wrap up with uncut doom documenting "Ritual Ascension Through a Weeping Soul."
Our practice begins and ends with Solar Devotions from St. Petersburg, Russia. Zen Master Seung Sahn continues to warn us that "when chanting, or sitting, or bowing, even special practice cannot help you if you are attached to your thinking."
