Basking in Gravity finally returns to Healer – Indianapolis’ premier all-ages, DIY, immersive art and music venue – the second Sunday in August. This participatory art/mindfulness experience combines elements of audiovisual installation and group performance with yin yoga and sitting meditation, creating an opportunity for us to explore our relationship with one of the fundamental forces of the universe. It’s a practice of finding equanimity in discomfort, and overwhelming false binaries as gravity gradually pulls our bodies home to the dirt.
Daniel “Cosmic Chambo” Chamberlin uses his experience as an artist, Zen student, and yoga teacher to guide practitioners through 90 minutes of non-self improvement meditation and slow-and-low yin yoga practice. Basking in Gravity takes place in an immersive audiovisual environment that includes organic video projections and a soundtrack – inspired by the long-running Inter-Dimensional Music FM broadcast - that builds from contemplative drone, devotional jazz, dub, and ambient music to a catharsis of cosmic metal.
• Basking in Gravity is intended to be accessible to all bodies and experience levels.
• Yin yoga is a sinking, cooling, non-striving yoga practice: We recommend layers of comfortable, loose-fitting clothing.
• We’ve got blocks and blankets, but please bring a yoga mat if you’ve got one.
• Masks are welcome, but not required.
Contact cosmic dot chambo at gmail if you have questions or concerns about joining us. Lots more info from past events at danielchamberlin.com as well.
You can also find more information on all of these things plus upcoming dates at @HealerDIY on IG, and/or subscribe (or lurk!) to the free (or if you’re feeling flush, paid!) Vøid Contemplation Tactics newsletter that you’re reading at this moment.
Cosmic Chambo Studio operations have been rolling as slowly as the slow-rolling prairie of East Central Indiana over the last month, as we sorted out some medical stuff – getting all four wisdom teeth removed simultaneously in my late 40s has been quite a journey! – and did some traveling. We visited Marfa friends in Chicago and Sonora; Alpine and Marfa friends in Marfa; Austin friends in Lockhart; Alpine friends in Santa Fe; Taos friends in Taos; and joined Austin and Taos friends for a kayaking trip in Colorado. It was great!
In the midsts of this lackadaisical pacing, Inter-Dimensional Music continues its 15th year on Marfa Public Radio in Far West Texas, and its eighth year on WQRT Indianapolis. This weekend listen for a preview of the upcoming Basking in Gravity session, which is more or less the same format as the usual blend of heavyweight ambience fading through blackened dubbing into full-bore cosmic metal.
There are many many many more ID Music broadcasts available in the current library and deep archive. Plus some examples from the 2023 Basking in Gravity North American Tour:
More Inter-Dimensional Music archive updates soon-coming, along with maybe hopefully wrapping up one of the “travel essay becomes unified theory of everything essay” essays I start and never totally wrap up after each summer’s travels. Also assuming everything goes well at Healer this August, we’ll hopefully be returning for a monthly Sunday session.
Once again and as always thank you for reading the words, listening to the mixclouds, commenting on the topics, lurking anonymously, subscribing for free, subscribing for money, unsubscribing if this is getting on your nerves, or sending this wonderful direct mail blog service opportunity to your nice friends.
blessing up and blessing down,

If you know anyone who might enjoy Vøid Contemplation Tactics or Basking in Gravity, please share the word. It means a lot! Thank you.
Word of mouth is our primary form of promotion. Vøid Contemplation Tactics doesn’t do much on social media, which is good for our mental health. As Dōgen's teacher told him, “You don't have to collect many people like clouds. Sitting with many fake practitioners is inferior to sitting with a few genuine practitioners. Choose a small number of true persons of the way and become friends with them.”
Thank you for lurking anonymously, subscribing for free, or subscribing for money. If you’d like to support this project with a one-time donation, you can also drop some change in the tip jar.
Or go get yourself something nice instead if it’s been that kind of day.
