This may be a bit far off the topic, but when I asked my therapist how she kept going she said, "One person at a time, Mike. One person at a time."

In the art world, whether it be writing, music or other, I encourage you to recognize that America has been dissed at *least* since the '20s (the 1920s, that is) for its focus on materialism and status. The disdain always, from my readings, came from folks who appreciated culture...defined as the products of creative pursuits. My Dad, a German, used to say Americans think culture is a hamburger. Over time, I've come to share his opinion.

Thank you to both for helping put a bit of lie to his cynicism.
